Do you have an issue with slow startups on your personal computer, or
with software and search toolbars popping up that you don't remember
installing?
I get a lot of people that ask me to look at their computers
for being slow, and a lot of what I have found is that they have 5 or 6
search bars installed on their browser (as well as various other add-ons),
and a ton of programs they don't want or need that are starting up when
windows loads that slows the whole system down.
There
are 2 major things you can do to avoid this.
Most of this software is
piggy-backed in the installation of software you intentionally download (
ie. Java, Adobe Flash, Yahoo Messenger, etc.).
Just say no to 'typical' installations! |
#1 - When you are asked to agree to terms and services to install, be sure what your agreeing to.
Most installers will have the first window ask for acceptance, while the
next 3 ask for acceptance to install other software.
Just click
"Decline".
Say goodbye to sluggish PC behavior! |
The software you are installing will not allow you to click
decline, so when the decline button pops up you can pretty much guarantee
its a spam program.
#2 - Anything you install, do not choose "Basic
Installation".
Take a look at the "Advanced Installation" or "Custom
Installation".
Nine times out of ten, the advanced installation is all the extra
programs you don't want, or where they will change your homepage on your
browser, and install add-ons.
